Kyrgyzstan apple cake is made with just a few ingredients.  Apples are believed to have originated in the area of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan thousands of years ago.  As semi-nomadic people, it is fitting that they would have a simple recipe to use them.  This recipe does not use any oil, and again, there is something about the simplicity of how they cook that lets the simple flavors of the food shine through, in this case delicious apples. Enjoy
